Franschhoek Cellar
Franschhoek Valley, Western Cape, South Africa
Franschhoek Cellar was originally the co-operative wine producer for a community of grape farmers in the magnificent Franschhoek valley. Today they are a pillar of the community operating as a private cellar delivering fantastic quality wines with a distinctive personality and character that emulates the grace and charm of their French Huguenot heritage.
The wines are ambassadors representing the true nature and diversity of this magnificent region. Intended for honest enjoyment without lavish clutter or complication, yet without being simple either. They advocate full ripe fruit expressions with sufficient restraint to maintain grace and charm. Oaking is always discreet and integrated.

'The Last Elephant'
93 Points | Tim Atkin MW | 2022
"The Last Elephant - great label as well as name - is a small-volume cuvée of Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. Serious, grippy and built to develop in bottle, it's a structured expression of Helderberg fruit, showing flavours of mint, tarragon, blackcurrant and coffee bean and impressive underlying concentration and freshness. 2027-35" -Tim Atkin MW (2025 South Africa Special Report)

'Cape West Coast' Sauvignon Blanc
91 Points | Tim Atkin MW | 2024
"Now under the DGB aegis, Fryer's Cove continues to make sappy, salty, highly individual wines on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. This feels like you’re standing on the prow of the boat, all sea spray and ocean breeze, with briny flavours of lime and oyster shell and a mineral core. 2025-27" -Tim Atkin MW (2025 South Africa Special Report)
